New year, new (photographic) beginnings
The entire calendar year of 2024 passed by without a single post added to this blog, so this is a short one to attempt a reset for 2025.
Last year was not a good one for me photography-wise. I took very few photos through the year for a couple of reasons.
First, I tore the meniscus in my right knee at the tail end of 2023 and couldn’t trust the knee for proper hikes with cameras equipment, which dampened my overall enthusiasm for getting out with a camera. An arthroscopy in November has ‘fixed’ the problem though, so I’m looking forward to starting out on some hikes again.
Secondly, my motivation for image-making just fell off a cliff last year. The knee trouble certainly didn’t help but I just wasn’t feeling the desire to make images throughout most of the year and a lot of that ‘hobby space’ in my mind got consumed with a renewed interest in painting miniatures instead.
With 2024 behind me, however — and with a newly-working knee — I’ve started to feel the interest creeping back, which is much welcome.
In the interests of getting things going on this site again too, here’s a little snapshot from a family outing this past weekend. Nothing special, just a quick snap on a walk through the woods at Bothal with the family, but it was nice to start seeing compositions again even as from-the-hip quick snaps.
