Happy Christmas

Canon EOS 5D Mark II, 65.0mm, 1/100s, f/5.0, ISO 640

I've really let the blog slide over the past month or so with work, baby and various problems with our house keeping me busy but I'm aiming to get back in the swing of things over Christmas.

Packing bags

My Peak Design Everyday Backpack 30 finally arrived yesterday and I'm just starting to play with the FlexFold dividers to find the best combination for lugging my gear out to the US for the first time in nearly a year next month.

First impressions of the bag are good: it certainly looks the part and I definitely needed the 30L version to get both the Bronica GS-1 and my Fuji gear inside. The bag overall is slightly larger than my Lowepro Flipside 400AW, though as the dividers aren't really intended to go up into the top section of the backpack I'm currently finding I've got a little less camera-specific storage than I'm used to. This is only after a 5 minute play though and I'm sure I can get creative with the FlexFold dividers.

I got the bag in ash and that colour way with the leather accents is really nice. My Everyday Messenger in charcoal looks nice but the ash is just more stylish.

I'll share some more detailed feedback when I've spent more time with the bag. I'm back out to San Francisco in January and taking a weekend trip down to Monterey and surrounding area where I hope to get some great photographs and give the backpack a thorough test.

Merry Christmas!

And a Happy New Year to all of you. Here's hoping 2017 is a good one.
