Peekaboo!
Chillingham Castle in Northumberland is a very interesting place to visit. The castle is owned by a real eccentric and is filled with all sorts of mad stuff, from a tiger's head in a fruit bowl to a fake medieval fireplace used for some TV filming and then kept in place.
Out in the stunning grounds though, live 'the only wild cattle in the world': a herd of around 100 cattle that has remained genetically isolated for hundreds of years. Our guide did point out that they've actually transferred a few up to a range in Scotland as a backup – because they're so in-bred and genetically similar, a simple virus could wipe them all out quite easily.
I highly recommend the wild cattle tour (probably over visiting the castle if you're pressed for time). Our guide was very good, the scenery is beautiful and so are the cattle. These two were a little wary of us as we walked by and so they just peered round the sides of this absolutely huge tree.
