Lindisfarne sheep

In the past few years I've done a few trips back to the north east along with a group of friends, hiring a cottage somewhere in Northumberland and then spending a few days enjoying good company and great scenery.

I took this picture on Holy Island, just in front of Lindisfarne Castle, as the sun was setting. It was at the end of a great day seeing the puffins and other birds on the Farne Islands. We decided to drive up to Holy Island in the hope of catching a nice sunset and a sit down for some cake and a drink and it worked out spectacularly well: we had lovely tea and cake at Lindisfarne Hotel, then caught magic hour at Lindisfarne Abbey where we met a very friendly ginger cat and then drove on down to the castle for sunset.

What a day.
