Dancing girl

Fujifilm X-T1, 23.0mm, 1/600s, f/2.8, ISO 200

My wife and I got married in April last year at Wallington, a National Trust property in Northumberland. It was a stunning venue and perfect for the kind of wedding we were hoping for: relaxed with a bit of history and elegance. As a National Trust house, it's also somewhere we can keep going back to visit whenever we like.

Visiting my family over Christmas we did just that; we were even staying in the same cottages that we stayed in for the wedding (Harlow Hill. If you're visiting the North East of England do check them out).

There's a lovely forest walk down to the walled garden at Wallington, where there's also a large Edwardian conservatory overlooking the garden. It's up here that this statue of a dancing girl stands on the wall. The garden actually seems to have been dug down out of the hillside (to protect it from some of the wind?) and it's a great short walk to take.

It's also where we took our post-ceremony wedding photos, in the rain!
