The beach at Alnmouth

Fujifilm X-T1, 24.3mm, 1/550s, f/9.0, ISO 200

In January last year, Liz and I were up north visiting my family for Christmas and New Year and towards the end of our trip we went for Sunday lunch with my brother, Christian and his (now) wife, Helen. Also Poppy the dog.

Having Poppy along with us, we needed to find a dog-friendly pub for our lunch and Christian and Helen had been to The Red Lion in Alnmouth before. I'm glad they had and that they recommended it as we had a beautiful walk along the beach followed by a delicious Sunday roast at The Red Lion (and being outside London, it was cheap too).

The weather was bright and sunny as you can see from the photographs, albeit still January in the North East of England so not exactly t-shirt weather.

I like that this photo could easily be one of my shots from the northern California coast if not for the fact everyone's wearing winter coats. The sunshine, the mist on the surf, good company and some tasty food made for a lovely day by the sea.
