Scotney Castle dusk walk

Fujifilm X-T1, 18.0mm, 1/20s, f/7.1, ISO 1600

On Saturday I had to drive down towards Hastings to find a reclamation yard that had suitable replacement floorboards for our house (first world problems or what?).

I took my cameras in the car with me on the assumption I'd find something to go and take pictures of in the area afterwards, and lo and behold, as I got near the reclamation yard I passed the familiar (to me) roundabout by the entrance to Scotney Castle. When I lived in Canary Wharf, I'd often drive down into Kent for photography days out and ended up at Scotney Castle a few times; it's easy to get to from London and has some gorgeous parkland you can walk around, even if the house and castle are closed.

It was 3pm by the time I got to the castle on Saturday so I dashed into the tea room for a bite to eat. They'd stopped serving lunch, so it was afternoon tea for me with a couple of very tasty scones, then a dash down to the castle itself before closing.

A check of Lumy showed that magic hour would start around 15 minutes after closing time, which gave me a bit of time to climb back up the hill at the ringing of the closing bell (gotta love some old-school National Trust methods for closing a place) and round to the public parklands.

As it happened, mist and cloud drew up quite quickly and so there wasn't much of a magic hour, but the blue hour was pretty funky in the light fog and I got this photo just after 6pm.

Taken with the Fuji X-T1 and 18-135mm.
