La Maison de la Forêt

Fujifilm GFX 50R, 63.0mm, 1/80s, f/11.0, ISO 160

After writing about my photo book purchases this year, the catalogue for Charlie Waite’s Hidden Works exhibition just arrived and a photo inside reminded me of this image from La Maison de la Forêt in France I’ve been waiting to publish.

Now. I’m not claiming my image is on par with Charlie’s. But I’ve sat on this one for a while—unsure about how well the composition works technically, while actually rather liking it—and seeing a similar composition among Charlie’s works encouraged me to just get it out there.

So here it is: an interesting little arrangement of trees in a small grass-carpeted clearing.

La Maison de la Forêt is an interesting place. A country park of sorts, but with a definite woodland setting. It had a nice mix of areas and good play areas for kids, although basically no signage making it occasionally tricky to navigate. The website describes it as ‘un site des Echappées Nature’—a nature escape—and that fits pretty well.
