This is technically a re-post, but since I relaunched this blog to focus more on photography—and the older post is currently not rendering the photo after changes to the code here—I thought it would be OK, particularly as it's a favourite image.

It's also a slight re-processing of the photo. As software gets better, you can go back to some old photos that didn't work the way you saw them at the time and get it right with newer technology. I always liked this photo, but a while back I did a mini 'redux' of a few photos from this trip and improved the processing on this photo a little bit (not to mention it was back when I used Aperture and I've since lost the library file with the edits in it so had to start again anyway).

Anyway, to the photo: it was taken at the Grand Prismatic Spring in Yellowstone on a road trip I did with my brother, Christian. We had a great time and saw some fantastic scenery, driving from Denver up to Jackson Hole, the Grand Tetons and Yellowstone, then back down to Colorado Springs for a quick visit to Pikes Peak, home of crazy hill-climbs.

I'd also just bought my old Canon 5D Mark II the week before flying out and wow, was I pleased I'd upgraded with the scenery I could put in front of it!
