Autumn foliage

Here's a quick bit of autumn colour from Knole Deer Park about three weeks ago. 

I was hoping for another foggy morning after getting an awesome amount of fog on a trip there at the start of October. The forecast didn't look good for fog but I decided to head down anyway and just have a mix of scouting and seeing what I could do with the conditions I found. As it turned out, there was a small amount of fog lying in the valley of 'the Gallops' (turns out horses actually do get galloped there as I saw a couple going full beans a little later on).

I really struggled for inspiration through sunrise itself, though I did get one nice pano as the sky lit up through the mist and fog which I'll share later. As I climbed up the side of the small valley though, I encountered a deer that was totally unfazed by my presence and allowed me to get some lovely images, which perked me up a bit. I spent a chunk of the rest of the morning though testing out various vintage lenses on the Fuji GFX 50S before driving on to Scotney Castle for the afternoon and sunset. 

The photograph above was taken somewhat randomly, hand-held while tramping through the lovely copper-toned low foliage. Looking back on myself, there was a nice sense of depth and as I had the Asahi Pentax 85mm f/1.8 on the GFX took a quick shot. Cropping it to the 65:24 panoramic ratio works rather nicely here I think. The Pentax lens stays nice and sharp on the GFX and that wide aperture helps pull in the depth of field to a nice slice through the middle.
