I've already published a few photos from around Tynemouth; my brother has lived in or near the town for a few years and my mum moved to Cullercoats just 5 minutes up the coast last year so I've had plenty of reason to visit.

Tynemouth sits in a beautiful setting at the mouth of the Tyne river (clue's in the name), with lovely sandy beaches and Victorian architecture. It's the kind of place Liz and I talk about moving some day, though given its location and fixed available space, property prices verge on London levels. You do get a stunning Victorian property right by the beach for your money though, so, you know.

Today's photo is looking down the high street, having walked back up the road from the river and by the priory which is worth a visit if you're ever in town.

Black and white felt right for this image, with the nice contrasty light I like, while not clipping in the shadows or highlights. A simple photograph, a bit more street-style, but I do shoot a lot more street photography than I publish here (maybe I'll change that).
