Newquay

Here’s a quick one from a trip to Newquay in the summer of 2018. We rented a cottage for the weekend to celebrate a friend’s birthday and I took this photograph on a hazy evening wander with the group.

I spent the weekend with the Asahi-Pentax Super Takumar 28mm ƒ/3.5 lens adapted on the Fuji X-Pro2 (so around 42-43mm full-frame equivalent) and, looking back, I’m really impressed with the image quality. The haze certainly helps, but there’s a depth to the image as well as sharpness without being over-sharp; a certain character that modern lenses tend not to have.

The image is a panorama stitch of 13 overlapping vertical frames, all shot hand-held looking down on the harbour. The raw files were already pretty nice, though a tad contrasty and looking back at the processing I did, I applied the VSCO Fuji Astia 100F- preset as a baseline to get the colour profile I wanted.

Not too much else to say about it, I just like the image and wanted to get something shared to the blog this evening with a spare 5 minutes.
