Giardino di Boboli, Florence

For our honeymoon in September last year, we took a road trip through Italy, spending three nights each in Rome, Florence, Cinque Terre and Lake Lugano. Florence and Lake Lugano were definite highlights: Florence for some fantastic food and the Boboli garden that stretches up a hill behind the Pitti Palace.

The sun was out in force (though thankfully not unbearably hot as it had been in Rome) and the gardens weren't too busy as we were at the very tail end of summer. We had a lovely stroll around the gardens and took in the views of the surrounding countryside from the top of the gardens by the Museo delle Porcellane.

Today's photo is looking down a long avenue of trees to the West of the gardens. We didn't have time (or the inclination really: Liz wasn't feeling well) to walk down it but I do love a good straight-line view like these where you can really get a sense of how the land dips and then raises again. The other visitors give a sense of just how large the trees are too!
