Deal Pier

Canon EOS 5D Mark II, 24.0mm, 1/160s, f/8.0, ISO 160

As the sun came out today in London, I thought I'd post a nice summery photograph from a few years ago: from a trip to Deal in the south east corner of England. I remember driving down from London for the day to get out of the city and enjoy both a drive and the sunshine, but not knowing much of what to expect in Deal.

I aimed for Deal Castle, which is a tiny round fort by the sea. That was quite interesting and then I went for a walk along the beach, catching a nice photo of some beached boats before walking down the pier and finding this atmospheric lower level.

The textures and light were a really interesting combination and I spent some time photographing different angles but this, the first shot I took, ended up being the pick of the bunch.
